The Petition of citizens of New South Wales brings to the attention of the House that the current timeline proposed for the new Stage 6 HSC English syllabus implementation is an impossible one to meet.
The current timeline is that English Advanced, Standard, Studies and Extension 1 be implemented in 2018. With no Prescriptions yet released and support materials such as a sample exam paper unlikely to be available until well into the second half of 2017, this timeline cannot be met.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to implement the new HSC English syllabus in 2020-21. The syllabus implementation should coincide with the gazetted end date of the current prescriptions: 2020.
