Demand a 90-day cap on holiday lets!

90 day cap 2

We desperately need homes for people in our community to rent long term. Our already existing housing crisis has become acute in the aftermath of the floods. We were promised at the 2019 State election that Byron Shire council could cap holiday letting of whole homes at 90 days per year for most of the shire, but still there has been no action by the Liberals and Nationals. Tell the Minister for Planning that now more than ever we need to prioritise secure housing for people in our community.

To the Minister for Planning and Homes

We, the undersigned, call on the New South Wales government to:

  • Honour its election promise of a 90-day cap on the number of nights whole homes can be let as Short Term Holiday Letting in Byron Shire, and
  • Deliver the cap as soon as possible to help meet the acute housing needs of our community in the aftermath of the recent flood events.
