Ballina MP welcomes airport funding

The member for Ballina, Tamara Smith MP welcomes the announcement of $4 million in funding to improve facilities for the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport. 

“Since I was elected we have seen a huge increase in infrastructure spending in the Ballina electorate and it is so overdue,” Ms Smith said.

Spending increases have included:

  • $88 million spent on the construction of Byron Central Hospital
  • $92 million spent on upgrading the Pacific Highway between Pimlico and Teven.
  • $200,000 in grant funding to Marine Rescue NSW to support the construction of the Ballina Marine Rescue Tower

The $4 million in funding to improve facilities at the airport is to accommodate increased visitor numbers in the Ballina and Byron areas.
