Greens Member for Ballina Tamara Smith is celebrating the achievements of strong women environmental campaigners at this year’s Byron Writers Festival.

“I am proud to be supporting former leader of the Greens, Christine Milne at this year’s Byron Writers Festival by sponsoring her session on Saturday in conversation with Margaret Throsby,” said Tamara Smith.

“Christine has long been a great example of someone who stands up for what she believes in and has never stopped trying to make a difference or to improve our society and how we care for our environment,” said Ms Smith.

Christine Milne was a Federal Senator and the leader of the Australian Greens from 2012 to 2015. She is the author of An Activist Life, an autobiography detailing her journey from high school English Teacher to environmental activist and campaigner for gay and lesbian rights in Tasmania; it also gives an insider’s look at Australian politics.

  • Christine Milne will be interviewed on Bay FM Friday 3 August from 11am,
  • she will be part of a panel at the Byron Writers Festival discussing How to Buy Less Stuff and Save the World at 3pm on Friday 3 August,
