My week in Parliament

17 February 2017

It's been a big first week back in parliament.

I spoke on affordable housing and called on the government to legislate that a percentage of all new homes be affordable housing;

I spoke on the petition to halt the NSW Commercial Fisheries business structural adjustment program and how it is affecting Ballina's fishing community;

I congratulated Big Scrub Landcare on receiving first place in the highly regarded Society of Ecological Restoration Australasia awards for excellence in ecological restoration practice;

I spoke on Closing the Gap and the need to move away from deficit language and support self determination for our First People's and Recognition in the Constitution and ... on Thursday during Question Time I asked the new Minister for the Environment to protect the endangered Loggerhead turtles being killed by the shark mesh nets in Ballina.

To ask the NSW government to stop the shark nets, sign my petition.

I want to hear about your vision for our region, please take my survey and if you sign up for email updates you'll go in the draw to win great prizes.

Thank you for reading.
