It was a gala day for pool openings on Saturday.
The weather was ideal for the re-opening of both the Ballina and Alstonville pools. As the patron of the Ballina RSL Sub-branch I was particularly delighted to see the Ballina Memorial Pool looking so wonderful.
Congratulations to Ballina Shire Council for delivering such wonderful amenities and well done to the community who have contributed through their rates towards truly first-class swimming baths that are there for everyone.
The $14million community investment means the facilities will be enjoyed for generations to come, and the heated pools means the community can enjoy the early swimming season.
Both pools now boast 50m heated pools with eight 2.5m-wide lanes for competition swimming and water polo; a 25m heated pool for swimming lessons, children’s play, lap swimming and rehabilitation; a splash area for kids; a cafeteria and dining area and brand new BBQ facilities and shelters.
