Sign our petition against the destruction of Ballina's koalas.
Dear Premier Berejiklian, Minister Pavey (Roads) and Minister Upton (Environment),
The landscape around Ballina contains some of our most precious wildlife - including the koala, the symbol of our nation.
Tree clearance to make way for the Pacific Highway upgrade at Meerschaum Vale is damaging koala food sources and habitat and a large increase in vehicles in what was once a quiet area is leading to more road deaths for koalas and other wildlife.
We want the government to put in place an effective koala monitoring scheme and to fund the rescue services for injured wildlife.
If this is not put in place we are concerned about the impact on the future of Ballina's koalas whose numbers have already dwindled.
We want koalas and other wildlife to be kept safe from road construction so that future generations can continue to see our native animals in the wild.
